Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Bills Fall to VCU, 4-1

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – Josefina Perez tied the score at 1-1 in the second half, but VCU responded with three goals of its own to take a 4-1 Atlantic 10 Conference field hockey decision Friday at SportPort International.

The Billikens dip to 1-10 overall and 0-4 in A-10 play, while VCU improves to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the league.

Perez extended her team-leading points total to 12 with her fourth goal of the season. Sierra Larson earned the assist, giving her at least one point in three of the Bills' last four games.

VCU went on top with a goal in the fourth minute, but SLU kept it a 1-0 game through the first half thanks in part to four first-half saves by SLU goalie Kendyl Underwood.

After Perez' equalizer, the Rams went ahead for good with a 40th minute goal. They then tacked on two more scores in the fourth quarter for the 4-1 final.

SLU returns to action next Friday when it hosts La Salle at SportPort. Game time is noon.
