Hannah Larson broke a scoreless tie just 40 seconds into the second half,
Hannah Sawyer scored in the 61st minute, and sixth-seeded Saint Louis held off a late Georgetown rally to defeat the third-seeded Hoyas 2-1 Friday afternoon in an NCAA Championship second-round game at Penn State's Jeffrey Field.
•The Billikens (19-2-2) advance to the "Sweet 16" for the first time in program history. They will face second-seeded Penn State, a 2-0 winner over seventh-seeded Santa Clara, Sunday at noon Central.
•Saint Louis extended its winning streak to 12 games and its unbeaten streak to 18 games (16-0-2). The winning streak is the nation's second-longest current streak.
•Georgetown finished the season 13-2-7.
•Larson's goal was her fifth of the season. Moving to her right just inside the six-yard line, she took
Emily Gaebe's long cross from the right wing and headed the ball back to the left past Georgetown goalkeeper Allie Augur, who came out to challenge.
•Sawyer became the third Billiken this season to reach double figures in goals, netting her 10th of the year. Gaebe led her teammate with a pass from the middle of the field, and Sawyer outpaced a Georgetown opponent and beat Augur with a left-footed shot just inside the left post.
