Billikens Topple Minnesota, Go for Series Sweep Sunday

Seven Billikens recorded hits in Saint Louis' 8-3 victory over Minnesota Saturday in Fort Myers Florida.

SLU won its second straight game over the Gophers, moving to 2-3 on the season, while Minnesota fell to 0-6.

Easton Richter put the Billikens on top in the second inning, driving in two on a single to right field. The Gophers got one run back it is half of the frame, making the score 2-1 in favor of the Billikens.

Tyler Fogarty launched his second home run of the season in the third inning, a solo shot to left field.

A solo home run for the Gophers in the fourth inning brought Minnesota back within one at 3-2.

SLU pushed two runs across in the sixth inning, including a sac fly off the bat of Richter.

A three-run seventh inning gave the Billikens an 8-2 edge. Fogarty tallied an RBI double and Cam Swanger added an RBI single in the frame.

The Gophers recorded their third and final run of the game on an RBI double in the eighth.

Ethan Sitzman, Fogarty and Swanger each recorded two hits. Richter drove in three runs, while Fogarty had two RBIs. Fogarty, Swanger and Knox Preston each scored two runs.

Ben Cherico tossed 2.2 scoreless innings of relief, surrendering just two hits and one walk and striking out three.

Jack Weber logged 2.0 innings out of the pen, allowing just one run and punching out two.

The Billikens will go for the sweep of Minnesota Sunday. First pitch is slated for Noon CT.
