Billikens Top Lamar in Extras

Millington, Tenn. – Tyler Fogarty provided the walk-off game-winning hit for the second day in a row in a 6-5, 10-inning victory for the Billikens over Lamar on Saturday afternoon.

SLU improves to 12-5 overall, while Lamar slips to 13-6. Saturday's game ended up being the series finale, as the third of the series originally scheduled for tomorrow was canceled.

Fogarty walked it off with a bases loaded single in the bottom of the 10th inning to score Dominic Cusumano. Fogarty's late-inning heroics came after he hit a solo homer to win the game in the bottom of the ninth yesterday.

Ethan Bell (1-0) picked up the win on the mound after twirling 2.2 shutout innings while striking out six.

The Billikens jumped out to a 5-1 lead after three innings, but Lamar would score four unanswered runs to send the game into extras to set up the Billikens' game-winning rally in the 10th.

Cameron Swanger hit a three-run homer in the first inning as part of his 3-of-4, four RBI day. Cole Smith and Fogarty drove in the other runs for the Bills. Austin Neuweg had two hits for SLU.

SLU returns to action on Tuesday, hosting Missouri State at the Billikens Sports Center in a 5 p.m. first pitch.
