San José, Calif. – Saint Louis tied the game at six in the ninth, but San José State walked off the Billikens, winning 7-6 in ten innings today at Excite Ballpark.
SLU (12-8) got three hits including a double and an RBI from
Cole Smith, while
Austin Neuweg had a double, two hits and a run and RBI.
Hayden Moore picked up his first collegiate home run as he scored three runs and drove in another.
Ethan Sitzman drove in a run, while
Tyler Fogarty and
Dominic Cusumano scored a run each.
Jackson Holmes started and went four and two thirds, striking out three and walking just one.
Jack Weber threw two and a third, while
Ethan Bell struck out five in two and a third innings of work.
SJSU (9-9) got three hits each from Charles McAdoo and Dalton Bowling.
The Billikens got on top first when Neuweg singled home Fogarty in the second to put Saint Louis up 1-0 after two. The Bills got another run in the third to push their lead to 2-0 after Moore's homer to left.
The Spartans, however, answered with three runs in the bottom half of the third as McAdoo drove in a pair with a single and Jack Colette singled home another. SJSU added a pair of runs in the fifth to go up 5-2 after five.
A sacrifice fly put a run across in the sixth for the Spartans, giving them a 6-2 lead going to the seventh, before the Billikens would go to work.
Cusumano walked and Neuweg doubled putting runners at second and third. Moore reached on an error, scoring Cusumano before Sitzman grounded out to score Neuweg. Smith then singled home Moore for the third run of the inning getting the Bills within one (6-5) heading to the bottom of the seventh.
Neither team scored in the eighth, but the Billikens tied it in the top of the ninth as Moore scored on a passed ball.
The game went to extras where the Spartans scored the winning run in walk off fashion.
The two teams finish up the three-game set tomorrow afternoon with a 1:05 pm start.
