Billikens Sweep Doubleheader, Extend Win Streak to Six

Saint Louis took both games of Saturday's doubleheader against St. Thomas at Billiken Sports Center. After defeating the Tommies 4-1 in the series opener, the Billikens rattled off three runs in the 13th inning to escape game No. 2 with a victory.

SLU extended its winning streak to six, moving to 6-3 on the season, while UST dropped to 1-7.

The Billikens received 6.0 scoreless innings from Henry Litman to propel them to a victory in game one. He scattered just three hits and one walk.

Jack Weber picked up the win, throwing the final 3.0 innings of the contest, surrendering no runs and striking out one.

SLU scored an unearned run in the sixth inning to take a 1-0 lead, but the Tommies answered the next half inning with a run of its own. An RBI single off the bat of Hayden Moore and a two-RBI single from Dominic Cusumano gave the Billikens a 4-1 advantage in the eighth.

Tyler Fogarty and Austin Neuweg collected two-hit games with each finishing 2-4.

The Tommies built a 3-0 lead in the second game of the doubleheader, scoring a run in the second frame and two in the fifth.

Neuweg and Patrick Clohisy picked up RBIs in the fifth inning to bring the Billikens within one at 3-2.

Neuweg's first home run of the season knotted the game at 3-3 in the eighth inning.

The teams went scoreless in extras before the Tommies plated two in the 13th. The Billikens answered with three runs and a walk off hit-by-pitch in their half of the frame. Fogarty drove in two with a single and Knox Preston was plunked with the bases loaded to end the game.
