THE BASICS
Saint Louis rode the hitting of Ashley Marietta and Jane Kaniecki in the opener and the pitching of Kaili Hanner in the nightcap to an 8-0, 1-0 Atlantic 10 Conference doubleheader sweep of Fordham Saturday afternoon at the Billiken Sports Center.
 
The Billikens improved to 17-22 overall and 9-4 in the A-10.
 
GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•The Billikens erupted for five runs in the bottom of the first inning, all scoring with two outs. Kaniecki's RBI single gave SLU its first run, and two batters later, Marietta delivered a grand slam, her second home run of the season.
•Jocelyn Abbott's third-inning sacrifice fly made it 6-0.
•Marietta collected her fifth RBI of the day with a single in the fifth.
•Saint Louis finished the run-rule win on Kaniecki's sixth-inning RBI single.
 
GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Marietta and Kaniecki had three hits apiece, and Marietta threw out a runner at the plate from right field for a second straight game.
•Natalie Sullivan smashed a double.
•Gabbie Kowalik singled.
•Chloe Wendling picked up her 14th win and second shutout of the season. Wendling allowed nine hits but did not walk a batter.
 
GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•Kelsey Etling drove in the game's only run with a fourth-inning single.
 
GAME 2 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Hanner recorded a career-high eight strikeouts, allowed only a second-inning infield single and issued just two walks.
•Marietta singled twice.
•Cami Newbanks smacked a double.
•Kowalik picked up a single.
