THE BASICS
Saint Louis recorded 12 hits, including three home runs in a five-run fifth inning, and defeated Fordham 8-7 Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game Atlantic 10 Conference series at the Billiken Sports Center.
 
SLU, which swept the three-game set, improved to 18-22 overall and 10-4 in the A-10.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
•Saint Louis rallied with two outs in the third inning and took a 2-0 lead on Jane Kaniecki's two-run single.
•It was 3-0 Billikens after Grace Kmak scored on a wild pitch in the fourth.
•Fordham grabbed a 4-3 lead with four runs in the fifth.
•SLU answered in a big way in its half of the fifth. Abby Mallo led off with a home run, and Kelsey Etling and Chloe Rhine followed with two-run blasts to put the Bills on top 8-4.
•Fordham made it close with a three-run homer in the seventh, but the Rams did no more damage.
 
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Mallo's home run was her league-leading ninth of the season, while both Etling and Rhine went deep for a third time this year.
•Kaniecki was 3-for-4.
•Mallo and Etling added a single apiece for two-hit outings.
•Gabbie Kowalik singled twice.
•Ashley Marietta collected a double.
•Natalie Sullivan notched a single.
