ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis scored eight unanswered runs to complete an 8-5 come-from-behind victory over Western Illinois Tuesday at the Billiken Sports Center.

SLU improved to 24-14 with the win, while Western Illinois dipped to 5-30.

The Leathernecks jumped in front 5-0 after scoring twice in the second and three times in the third, but the Billikens roared back with a four-run fifth, then tied it up at 5-5 in the seventh. Then, SLU plated three runs in the bottom of the eighth to secure the win.

Meanwhile, SLU relievers
Jack Weber,
Evan Gray and
Ethan Bell combined to throw six shutout innings to help SLU to the win.

Ethan Sitzman had a pair of hits, and RBI and scored twice while extending his hitting streak to 18 games.
Cameron Swanger and
Hayden Moore had two hits and two RBIs apiece.

With the score tied at 5-5 in the eighth, the Billikens loaded the bases with walks to Sitzman,
Cam Redding and
Cole Smith. Fogarty then singled to plate the winning run. Swanger lifted a sacrifice fly, then Moore singled to first to account for the additional insurance runs for the Bills.

SLU returns to Atlantic 10 Conference play this weekend when it heads to Richmond, Virginia, for a three-game set against VCU at The Diamond.
