SLU, however, scored four in the bottom of the second to get within two (6-4) after two. Fogarty homered to start the scoring and Neuweg doubled home Preston and Smith. Moore then beat out an infield single to score Neuweg for the fourth run of the inning.
Moore drove in Swanger in the fourth to make it 6-5, before the Colonials added a run to go up 7-5 heading to the bottom of the fifth. Redding homered and Neuweg singled home Smith to tie the game at seven after five.

In the tenth, More walked and then stole second.
