KANSAS CITY – The Saint Louis University volleyball team fell to SEMO here Friday afternoon, dropping a 3-1 match in the team's second appearance of the day.
 
SLU started off the team's matchup with the Redhawks strong, jumping out to a 8-3 lead, behind two kills and 1.5 blocks from freshman Trinity Luckett. SEMO, coming off a five-set victory over tournament host Kansas City, responded, firing off a 5-0 run to take the lead and the momentum. The result was a 25-17 first-set victory in favor of the Redhawks.
 
Set two started as more of the same for the Billikens as they struggled at the service line with five attack errors. SLU staged a comeback late in the set, pulling within one (22-21) before ultimately dropping the second set, 25-21. 
 
In the third, SLU found its offensive spark, swinging for .206 with 12 kills and five service aces. Behind a monster kill from CeCe Fitz, the Billikens closed out the third set, 25-18. 
 
The Billikens couldn't keep the momentum going, however, as SEMO raced out to an early lead, and despite a 5-0 run midway through, SLU dropped the fourth set and match.
 
The loss drops the Billikens to 6-5 on the year. SLU will conclude its showing in the KC Roos Klassic Saturday afternoon against tournament host, Kansas City. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
