RICHMOND, Va. – Saint Louis rallied with two scores in the fourth quarter, but Richmond hung on for a 5-2 Atlantic 10 Conference field hockey victory over the Billikens Saturday morning at UR's Crenshaw Field.
The match was played in steady rain and wind, impacts of Tropical Storm Ophelia. SLU falls to 1-7 overall and 0-2 in the A-10. Richmond improves to 6-3 and 2-0 in the league.
Richmond scored in the fourth minute and again in the 26th minute to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
The Spiders then scored twice early in the second half to go top 4-0 before the Billikens struck for two goals in the fourth quarter.
Demi Sahuleka scored on a penalty stroke in the 48th minute to make it 4-1. It was her team-high-tying third goal of the season and the 15th tally of her collegiate career.
In the 52nd minute, Sierra Larson put home a rebound off a Josefina Perez shot to cut the Richmond lead in half at 4-2. It was Larson's first-career goal.
The Spiders would go on to score at the 60-minute mark on an untimed penalty corner for the final 5-2 margin.
