MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – Saint Louis scored two late goals, including the game-winning score in overtime by Shaya Dry, as the Billikens picked up their first win of the season, 2-1 over Lindenwood Monday at SportPort International.
SLU improves to 1-3 with the victory. Lindenwood dips to 0-2.
The Billikens fell behind 1-0 after Lindenwood scored in the first quarter, but they kept pressing and scored two unanswered to take home the win.
Demi Sahuleka evened the score with a goal in the 53rd minute. She connected off a penalty corner with Olivia Smith and Lauren Pendergast assisting.
It remained 1-1 heading into overtime to set up Dry's heroics less than one minute in. From an extreme angle, she snuck one past the Lindenwood goalie off a pass from Grace Golembiewski for the game-winning tally.
Kendyl Underwood made five saves to pick up the win. SLU outshot the Lions 24-9 and had an 18-3 advantage in penalty corners. The 18 corners for SLU are the most it has had in a match since recording 19 against Bellarmine on 10/2/2011.
The Bills return to action next Sunday, Sept. 10, to host Colgate at SportPort International. Game time is 11 a.m.
