ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis ended its first season playing on their new home turf on the SLU campus on a positive note, defeating Maryville 9-1 at the SLU Field Hockey Complex on Sunday afternoon.
The nine goals were the most by a Billiken squad since scoring 11 goals against Lindenwood in 2000.
SLU improves to 2-11 overall heading into its season finale next week at Lock Haven. Maryville ends its season at 4-10.
Josefina Perez posted her first-career hat trick to extend her team-leading goal count to 12 for the season. She also added an assist for a seven-point day.
Sierra Larson had two goals and an assist. India Hayes and Shaya Dry had a goal and an assist apiece.
Also scoring the Bills was Julia Rooijakkers and Ignacia Manriquez.
SLU scored three times in the first quarter and another in the second to take a 4-0 lead into halftime. The Bills added two in the third and two in the fourth quarters. Maryville got on the board with a tally in the fourth quarter.
SLU is in action at Lock Haven on Friday, Nov. 1. Game time in Pennsylvania is 11 a.m. (CT).
