AMHERST, Mass. – Massachusetts defeated Saint Louis 5-1 Friday afternoon in Atlantic 10 Conference field hockey action at UMass' Gladchuk FH Complex.

The Billikens dip to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in the league, while UMass improves to 8-3 overall and 3-0 in the A-10.

The Minutewomen led 2-0 at halftime and scored twice in the third quarter to stretch their lead to 4-0.
Josefina Perez scored for the Billikens to make it 4-1, but UMass scored again in the fourth quarter for the 5-1 final.

It was Perez's team-leading eighth goal of the year. Her eight tallies are the most scored by a Billiken in a season since Ellen Rapp scored eight times in 2004.

Kerri O'Donnell split time in goal, and each ended up with 11 saves, a career-high for both.
