EVANSVILLE, IND. – Peyton Kennedy led all scorers with 23 points, but Southern Indiana pulled out a 71-59 win over the Billikens Sunday afternoon at Liberty Arena.
This was the first of three games this week for Bills, who fall to 2-2. SLU will face Missouri on the road on Wednesday and Missouri State at home on Saturday. Southern Indiana, the reigning Ohio Valley Conference Champions, improves to 4-1.
It was the second quarter that helped the Screaming Eagles secure the win, outscoring SLU 23-13 in the quarter. They went into the half with a 12-point lead, and the Billikens would only manage to cut their deficit to five in the second half.
Despite the loss, there were several bright spots for Saint Louis. The Billikens had 24 bench points, the most this season. Hannah Wallace had a career-high eight points, and Bri Johns added a season-high nine points. Mya Glanton posted a season- and game-leading 12 rebounds.
Southern Indiana shot 42.9 percent from 3-point range, compared to 18.2 percent for the Billikens.
Saint Louis is back in action on Wednesday (Nov. 20), when it travels to Mizzou for a 6:30 p.m. tip.
