WASHINGTON, D.C. – George Washington prevailed in four sets Saturday afternoon in Atlantic 10 Conference volleyball action at the Charles E. Smith Center.
The Billikens dip to 9-17 overall and 4-10 in the A-10. The Revolutionaries won their third in a row and improve to 18-9 and 8-6 in the league.
Addy Brus had a double-double with a team-best 15 kills and 13 digs. Delaney Rice added 13 kills and Tea Kalajdzic contributed 10 kills.Â
Carlie Rodgers finished with a team-high 22 digs. Trinity Luckett led the way for SLU with six blocks to go along with eight kills.Â
George Washington def. Saint Louis 25-14, 21-25, 27-25, 25-22
Set 1 – GW used a 6-0 run to go on top 14-5 in the opening set, and they cruised to a 25-14 win to lead 1-0 after the first.
Set 2 – The Bills rebounded in the second set to even things at 1-1. Saint Louis won five of the last six points to break a 20-20 tie to win 25-21.Â
Set 3 – The Revolutionaries trailed 18-14 in the third set before rallying. SLU had set point at 24-22 and 25-24, but GW closed with three straight points to take a 2-1 lead.Â
Set 4 – The Billikens continued to battle in set four, putting together a quick 4-1 frenzy to make it 23-21 GW. But the Revolutionaries sealed the set, and the match, with a kill.Â
The Billikens are back at Chaifetz Pavilion next week, hosting George Mason at 6 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday.
