Billikens Battle in Loss to Lady Bears

St. Louis – Junior guard Brooklyn Gray scored a career-high 25 points, but Missouri State pulled away in the second and third quarter to but the game out of reach for a 91-68 Lady Bear win Saturday afternoon at Chaifetz Arena.

The Billikens have now lost three straight, setting their sights on California Baptist and a matchup with No. 3 Southern California next week. MSU improves to 3-1, with its sole loss to UT Martin.

It was a game of runs in the second quarter, MSU came out hot pushing the lead to 18 with 3:57 left in the half. SLU then went on a 12-4 run to cut the Lady Bear lead to 10 going into halftime.

Gray's 25 points came on eight field goals and nine from the stripe. She also added five rebounds and matched her career-high in assists (4) and steals (3).

Shun'teria Anumele and Kennedy Calhoun were also in double figures with 13 and 10 points respectively. Collectively, the Bills shot 47.1 percent from the field and were nearly perfect from the free-throw line going 15-16.

The Lady Bears shot a season best 64.7 percent from three, led by Kyrah Daniels who went 4-6 with a game-high 26 points.

Saint Louis is back in action on Tuesday (Nov. 26), when it travels to California Baptist for an 8 pm CT tipoff. CBU is 0-4 to start the season.
