Riverside, Calif. – Brooklyn Gray and
Mia Bergstrom exploded for a combined 41 points to lead the Billikens to an 82-70 victory over California Baptist on Tuesday night at Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler Events Center.
Mia Bergstrom, in her first-career start, hit a huge three on SLU's first possession which set the tone for the game. The Bills hit 11 from beyond the arc, making it the most by the program since the WNIT Championship game against Minnesota in April. The game was back and forth until halfway through the second quarter when SLU took the lead 32-30 and never looked back. The Billikens shot 44 percent from the floor and beyond the arc in the first half.
Saint Louis had four players in double-figures for the first time since November 18, 2023.
Brooklyn Gray led the way with 24 points followed by
Mia Bergstrom with a career-high 17,
Shun'teria Anumele with 14 and
Kennedy Calhoun with 11. SLU had 13 assists thanks to
Kennedy Calhoun and
Shun'teria Anumele who each had four.
Saint Louis had arguably its best game of the year as a team with new season bests in multiple categories. The Billikens grabbed 49 rebounds and had seven blocks, led by
Tierra Simon who matched her career-high with 16 boards and a season-high three blocks. The team also matched its season-low in turnovers with 11. The Billikens scored their most points (82) in regulation and allowed the fewest (70) by an opponent this season.
The Billikens are back in action on Friday, Nov. 29 when they face No. 6 USC in Palm Springs.
