THE BASICS
Saint Louis posted a 2-1 record in the Billiken Spring Tournament over the weekend, defeating St. Thomas (Minn.) 9-1 and 8-5 and falling 6-3 to Illinois.

SATURDAY GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•
Cami Newbanks' solo home run in the first inning put the Billikens in front.
•Saint Louis erupted for six runs in the second as
Kelsey Etling and
Natalie Sullivan smashed three-run home runs.
•St. Thomas scored its only run in the fifth.
•SLU ended the game in the bottom of the fifth on solo homers by
Abby Mallo and Etling.

SATURDAY GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•The Billikens' five home runs tied a school record.
•
Taylor Hochman went 4 1/3 innings and improved to 8-1. She struck out six and allowed one run, two hits and one walk.
•Newbanks was 3-for-3.
•Mallo added a single for a two-hit game.
•
Chloe Rhine (double) and
Jocelyn Abbott (single) also made it into the hit column.

SATURDAY GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•St. Thomas grabbed a 3-0 lead in the top of the first.
•Saint Louis got on the board in the second on Abbott's sacrifice fly.
•The Bills took command in the third, plating five runs. Newbanks had an RBI double, Rhine drew a bases-loaded walk, and Abbott delivered a three-run double.
•SLU answered St. Thomas' fourth-inning run with two of its own in the bottom half on Mallo's two-run single, making it 8-4.
•The Tommies tallied a run in the fifth to account for the final score.

SATURDAY GAME 2 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•
Isabel Royle upped her record to 3-1. Royle fanned five in five innings of work.
•
Lily Strand recorded her second save, tossing two scoreless innings.
•Sullivan, Rhine and
Abby Ulsas had a single apiece.

SUNDAY – HOW IT HAPPENED
•The Billikens took a 1-0 lead in the first on a fielder's choice RBI by
Jane Kaniecki.
•SLU made it 3-0 in the second when two runners scored on a two-out error.
•Illinois got those two runs back in the third, and the Fighting Illini put up four runs in the seventh to claim the win.

•Ulsas had two singles and Rhine collected one.
