ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis University baseball dropped the third game of its series with Cincinnati here Sunday, falling 8-3 to the Bearcats at the Billiken Sports Center.
The loss moves the Billikens to 16-6 on the season and 8-3 on their home field.
SLU gave up three runs on three hits in the third inning, as Cincinnati carried over its strong offensive play from Saturday in which the Bearcats scored 13. The visitors added two runs to their lead in the fourth inning, tacking on four runs to boost their lead to seven runs. Despite threatening to score early in the game, the Billikens did not get on the board until the bottom of the fourth inning, whenÂ
Graham Mastros blasted a three-run home run to get them on the board.
The remainder of the game was a defensive deadlock, before a throwing error accounted for the Bearcats final run of the day in the top of the eighth, giving them the 8-3 advantage.
The Billikens left 10 runs on base in the loss, while recording eight total hits led by
Ethan Sitzman,
Patrick Clohisy and Mastros who accounted for two apiece.
SLU will travel to Kansas University Tuesday for a midweek contest against the Jayhawks. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at Hoglund Ballpark in Lawrence, Kan.
