THE BASICS
Cami Newbanks and
Jane Kaniecki had two RBIs apiece, and
Lily Strand pitched five strong innings of relief to lift Saint Louis to a 5-4 victory over Saint Joseph's Sunday afternoon at the Billiken Sports Center.

The Billikens won the series 2-1 and improved to 16-11 overall and 4-2 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. SLU is tied for first place with Saint Joseph's and George Washington.

HOW IT HAPPENED
•Kaniecki gave Saint Louis a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with a two-out RBI single.
•The Billikens made it 2-0 in the second on
Abby Mallo's leadoff home run, her team-high-tying seventh round-tripper of the season.
•Saint Joseph's scored twice in the third to tie it and took a 4-2 edge with two more runs in the fifth.
•SLU answered right away in its half of the fifth. Newbanks' RBI double cut the deficit in half, and the tying run scored on Kaniecki's groundout.
•Newbanks walked it off in the seventh with an RBI single.

•Strand collected her second win of the season. She allowed one earned run, five hits and one walk.

Natalie Sullivan singled twice.

Jocelyn Abbott had a single apiece.
