THE BASICS
Saint Louis scored twice in the top of the eighth inning and held on for a 6-4 victory over George Washington in game one of an Atlantic 10 Conference doubleheader Friday afternoon at GW Softball Field.
 
GW won the nightcap 11-1 in five innings.
 
The Billikens are 17-12 overall and 5-3 in the A-10.
 
GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•Saint Louis took advantage of two GW errors to score two unearned runs in the third. Cami Newbanks did the damage with a two-run double.
•GW promptly took the lead with three runs in its half of the third.
•SLU pulled even with an unearned run in the fourth on Kendall Johnson's RBI groundout.
•The Billikens edged back in front with another single tally in the fifth as Jane Kaniecki delivered an RBI single.
•A sixth-inning run allowed GW to even the score at 4-4.
•Saint Louis plated the winning runs courtesy again of a George Washington error. With two outs, Newbanks' fly ball was mishandled, allowing Jocelyn Abbott and Abby Ulsas to score.
 
GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Abbott and Ulsas had two singles apiece.
•Abby Mallo doubled.
•Isabel Royle collected the victory in relief. Royle struck out two and allowed one hit in two scoreless innings.
 
GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•GW put up four runs in the first, three in the second and three in the third.
•The Bills scored in the fourth on Allie Marietta's sacrifice fly.
•The Revolutionaries pushed across a final run in their half of the fourth.
 
GAME 2 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Chloe Rhine had two doubles.
•Ulsas, Newbanks, Kaniecki, Abbott and Natalie Sullivan registered a single apiece.

The Billikens and Revolutionaries conclude the series Saturday with a single game beginning at 11 a.m. Central.
