ST. LOUIS - Scoring 15 runs on as many hits, Saint Louis University baseball defeated Davidson here Friday afternoon, racing to a 15-6 victory at the Billiken Sports Center.
Ethan Sitzman's four-RBI day led the team as he drove in the runs on three hits while adding a score of his own.
After taking a six-run lead with help from home runs by
Easton Richter and
Drew Winters, the Billikens found themselves tied at 6-6 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. SLU took advantage of an error by the Wildcats' defensive lineup which sent
Tyler Fogarty across home plate to give the home team back the lead. A two-run homer by
Graham Mastros boosted the Billikens lead back to 9-6 heading into the eighth inning.
In the Billikens' final offensive inning they took and kept a commanding lead as Sitzman's two-run home run increased their advantage to five-runs over the visiting Wildcats. A wild pitch and three-straight walks as Davidson struggled to get its final out of the eighth inningincreased SLU's lead to 15-6.
Earning the win on the mound,
Ethan Bell helped secure the last outs of the game as the senior right-handed pitcher recorded two strikeouts to bring his total to four through 2.2 innings.
Jackson Holmes also presented a solid showing for the Billikens in his ninth start of the season, throwing for 6.1 innings while striking out seven batters.
The Billikens continue their series against the Wildcats tomorrow at the Billiken Sports Center. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
