ST. LOUIS - Behind seven scoreless frames from starting pitcher Charlier Weber, Saint Louis University baseball earned its third-straight win here Saturday afternoon, defeating Davidson 6-1 to move to 24-8 on the year and 6-2 in Atlantic 10 Conference play.
Giving up his final hit of the day in the third inning, Weber only allowed four total through seven complete innings on the mound while he struck out eight batters to earn his second win of the season.
The Billikens opening inning at-bat was a big one, as
Tyler Fogarty's two-RBI double got things going early offensively.
Drew Winters tacked on another run in the bottom of the first, driving Fogarty home to extend SLU's lead to 3-0.
The home team exploded for three additional runs in the fourth inning, as
Knox Preston and
Patrick Clohisy drove in a combined three runs to boost the Billikens lead to six runs.
Davidson's lone run came in the ninth inning, before in relief on the mound,
Owen Chaffin recorded his second strikeout of the day to solidify the Billikens' 6-1 win.
Fogarty and Clohisy's two RBIs apiece led SLU in its second game against the Wildcats while
Ethan Sitzman scored two runs on three hits.
The Billikens will look for the series sweep of Davidson in game three Sunday. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. (CST) at the Billiken Sports Center.
