ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis University baseball won its fourth-straight game here Sunday afternoon, defeating Davidson 7-2 to complete its series sweep of the Wildcats.
The win moves the Billikens to 25-8 on the season and 7-2 in Atlantic 10 Conference play with 18 regular season games remaining on their schedule.
It was a big opening inning for SLU at the Billiken Sports Center, as
Tyler Fogarty drove in the team's first RBI of the day before
Graham Mastros tacked on a run of his own singling to left center field.
Drew Winters' sacrifice fly continued the home team's momentum sending
Patrick Clohisy across home plate, before
Chase Beattie's second double of the season extended the Billikens' lead to 5-0.Â
The Wildcats fought back in the third inning with two singles getting them on the board and within striking distance, but Winters shut them down, blasting a solo home run to push the Billikens lead back to four runs. Winters continued his impressive outing in the bottom of the fifth inning, recording a double down the left field line to send Fogarty home.Â
Jackson Yarberry earned the win for SLU on the mound pitching 2.1 innings in relief after
Henry Litman went 2.2 while registering a team-high three strikeouts.
The Billikens will continue their conference slate next weekend playing a three-game series at Fordham. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. (CST).
