ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Saint Louis University baseball added a nonconference win to its resume here Tuesday evening, defeating Lindenwood, 3-1.
It was the Billikens' second win over the Lions this season and ninth in program history, moving their all-time series record against the St. Charles team to 9-2.
All three of SLU's runs came in the third inning with
Easton Richter accounting for the Billikens' 13th triple of the season to score
Ben Gallaher. From there,
Ethan Sitzman and
Cole Smith joined in on the fun, driving in Richter and
Patrick Clohisy to take the three-run lead over the Lions after three.
Lindenwood scored its lone run of the evening in the fifth inning, but SLU, with three scoreless innings from
Dawson Smith and
Henry Litman each leading the way, held on for the 3-1 victory. Striking out six batters in relief for the Billikens, Litman earned the win on the mound while
Owen Kelly's three strikeouts in the ninth inning gave him the save.
The win moves the Billikens'Â record to 27-10 overall with 14 games remaining on their regular-season schedule.
SLU continues its Atlantic 10 Conference slate this weekend at George Washington. First pitch against the Revolutionaries is set for Friday at 2 p.m. (CST).
