WASHINGTON, D.C. - Saint Louis University baseball fell to George Washington Saturday afternoon, dropping the second game of the series 5-3.
The loss moves Saint Louis to 28-11 on the year and 9-5 in Atlantic 10 Conference play. The win for George Washington shifts its record to 24-18 and 7-7 in A-10 play.
Similar to Friday's game against the Revolutionaries, SLU got off to a hot start once again at Barcroft Park with
Drew Winters and
Easton Richter driving home
Patrick Clohisy and Winters, respectively. After the first inning, the Billikens lead, 2-0.
From there, it was all the home team, as they scored four-unanswered runs off a balk and a succession of singles through the third and the fourth innings.
Ethan Sitzman pulled the Billikens back within one in the top of the seventh (4-3), but the Revs found an answer in the next half inning, defeating SLU by two.
The Billikens usually fiery bats were quieted in the loss, as they only registered five total hits.
SLU and GW will play the final game of the series tomorrow at 11 a.m. (CST).
