THE BASICS
Abby Mallo and Kelsey Etling homered, but Lindenwood snapped a 5-5 tie with two runs in the fifth inning and defeated Saint Louis 7-5 Wednesday evening at the Billiken Sports Center.
 
The Billikens fell to 18-13.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
•Lindenwood struck for two runs in the top of the first inning.
•SLU responded with three runs in its half of the first, all scoring with two outs. Jane Kaniecki's RBI single plated the first tally, and Mallo followed with her team-leading eighth home run of the season.
•The Lions quickly regained the upper hand, scoring three times in the second to go on top 5-3.
•Etling cut Lindenwood's advantage in half by leading off the Billiken second with her sixth round-tripper of the year.
•Cami Newbanks' third-inning RBI double tied it at 5-5.
•A two-run home run in the fifth was the decisive blow for Lindenwood.
 
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Abby Ulsas singled twice.
•Taylor Hochman tossed 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, striking out two and allowing two hits.
