ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis University baseball got back in the win column here Tuesday afternoon defeating Southern Indiana 13-5 in a midweek contest.
The victory moves SLU to 22-8 on the season heading into this weekend's third conference series of the year against Davidson, Friday-Sunday.
Tyler Fogarty got things started early for the home team at the Billiken Sports Center, blasting a solo shot to to give SLU the early, 1-0, advantage in the bottom of the second inning. The home run was the senior outfielder's sixth of the season.
A back-and-forth battle followed in the ensuing innings as the Billikens found themselves tied 5-5 with the Screaming Eagles heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.
Graham Mastros drove in the go-ahead RBI which sent Fogarty across home plate to boost SLU back in the lead before
Ben Gallaher's sacrifice fly extended its advantage to 7-5.
From there, the Billikens' bats were on fire as they tacked on six additional runs through the remainder of the game.
Fogarty drove in a team-high four RBIs in the win while himself,
Easton Richter,
Drew Winters, Mastros and
Austin Neuweg all scored two runs apiece.
Dawson Smith drew the start for the Billikens on the mound, only allowing one run through four complete innings while
Jackson Yarberry earned his fifth win of the season in relief.
The Billikens host the Wildcats over the weekend with the first game of the series set for Friday at 3 p.m. (CST) at the Billiken Sports Center.
