ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis rallied from an early deficit to send the game into overtime, but Bellarmine scored in the first extra session for a 2-1 win over the Billikens Sunday at the SLU Field Hockey Complex.

The Bills dip to 0-2, while Bellarmine improves to 1-1.

The Knights got on the board in the second quarter when Annie Malloy put one home to give the visitors the lead in the 23rd minute.

The Billikens responded with a goal in the 37th minute when
Josefina Perez tapped in a pass from
Olivia Smith. It was the second time in as many games that Perez and Smith linked up for a goal.

The game was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation, sending the game into overtime. In the first extra session, Bellarmine's Luna Tuncay scored the golden goal off an Anna Crump pass, delivering the 2-1 win for the Knights.

The Billikens continue their season-opening three-game homestand at the SLU Field Hockey Complex next weekend when Ball State visits on Sunday, Sept. 8. Game time is noon.
