ST. LOUIS - The Billikens fell just short, 66-63, in a back-and-forth game to Loyola Chicago.
The Ramblers went on a 10-0 run to start the game and SLU answered with one of its own and the game went punch for punch the rest of the way.
Brooklyn Gray scored a game-high 23 points with
Peyton Kennedy (12) and
Kennedy Calhoun (11) also in double-figures.
Tierra Simon grabbed 10 rebounds, surpassing 500 for her NCAA career. Calhoun reached a milestone of her own, recording over 400 career assists.
Loyola Chicago was hot from three-point range, shooting 52 percent compared to SLU's 17 percent.
The Billikens return to action on the road at Dayton on Wednesday, Jan. 22. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. CT.
