DAYTON, Ohio – Saint Louis dropped a straight-set match to Dayton on Saturday afternoon at the Frericks Center. The Billikens moved to 8-10 overall and 0-7 in Atlantic 10 play.
SET 1: Dayton 25, Saint Louis 17
Saint Louis opened the match with an early lead, taking a 6-5 advantage after a pair of defensive stops and a block at the net. Dayton responded with a 5-1 run to create separation, pushing ahead 10-6. The Billikens battled to close the gap midway through the frame, trimming the deficit to 15-13, but a 7-2 stretch from the Flyers built a decisive cushion. Dayton secured the opening set with a 25-17 win.
SET 2: Dayton 25, Saint Louis 22
The second set saw the Billikens' most competitive stretch of the match. SLU erased multiple early deficits, tying the set at 7-7 and again at 14-14 behind improved offensive rhythm. The Billikens continued to apply pressure, forcing another tie at 22-22 late in the frame, but Dayton capitalized on a pair of errors to close it out 25-22.
SET 3: Dayton 25, Saint Louis 16
Saint Louis fell behind early in the third, as Dayton opened with a 7-3 advantage. The Billikens pulled within two midway through the set before a 6-1 Flyer run extended the margin. Despite a brief SLU push late in the frame, Dayton held momentum throughout to complete the sweep 25-16.
