Saint Louis begins a busy weekend by traveling to Richmond, Virginia, to take on the Richmond Spiders Friday afternoon. Game time at Crenshaw Field is 1 p.m. (CT).

ABOUT THE BILLIKENS

Saint Louis enters the weekend 4-4 overall and 0-2 in Atlantic 10 Conference play.

The Billikens are coming off a 4-1 win last Sunday against Maryville.

Olivia Smith, who scored twice in the win against Maryville, leads the Billikens with 11 points (5G, 1A). Sierra Larson, who was named A-10 Offensive Player of the Week Sept. 8, has scored four times. Abby Vidas, Shaya Dry and Ignacia Manriquez have all scored twice for the Bills this year.

Abby Schalow has played the majority of minutes in the cage. She has a 1.87 goals against average and has made 58 saves. Her .806 save percentage is eighth in NCAA Division I.

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION

Richmond is 5-4 overall and 2-0 in league play. The Spiders have defeated Lock Haven (8-0) and La Salle (2-1, OT) thus far in A-10 action.

Clara Larripa leads the Spiders with 15 points on five goals and five assists. Amy Stripling has also tallied five times for the Spiders. 

Alexa Derr is the reigning A-10 Defensive Player of the Week. Goalkeeper Amanda Cimillo has seen the majority of the time in the cage and has a 1.78 goals against average.

NEW COACHING STAFF

The Billikens are led by interim head coach Laura Hurff. She guided Rhodes College to a 14-6 record last season as interim head coach. An accomplished player in her own right, she was a four-year starter at Syracuse and helped the Orange win the NCAA Championship in 2015.

Assisting Hurff is interim assistant coach Teresa Schmidt, a St. Louis native who played at Bellarmine. Graduate assistant Bodhi Littlefield was a four-year starter at Ohio.

50TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON

This season marks the 50th anniversary of Billiken Field Hockey at Saint Louis University. The program began in 1975 under the direction of SLU professor and former Dutch national team player, Dr. Will van Beaumont.

The Billikens host UC Davis on Sunday for Alumnae Day Game time is noon. SLU Field Hockey alums are encouraged to RSVP to the event here. Sunday will also be SLU's Pink Game for Breast Cancer Awareness. All fans are encouraged to wear pink.
