ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis University volleyball swept Fordham to earn its third consecutive conference win and improve to 11-10 overall and 3-7 in Atlantic 10 play.
Set 1: Saint Louis 25 - Fordham 14
Fordham's three-point lead to start the game quickly turned into a point exchange between both teams. The Billikens and Rams were tied at eight apiece before Saint Louis mounted two separate 4-0 runs midway through the opening set. After the 17-11 mark, the Rams went quiet on offense, only recording three points for the rest of the set.
The Billikens continued their scoring streak, finishing the opening set with a 6-1 run for a comfortable 11-point victory.
Set 2: Saint Louis 25 - Fordham 21
A solid start by the Rams gave them an early three-point advantage before the Billikens stormed back into the set to take control of set two. After Fordham scored the first three points of the set, Saint Louis responded with their own 7-0 run to swing the momentum. The Rams' attack stalled in the middle parts of set two, totaling seven attacking errors and allowing the Billikens to maintain their lead.
Fordham would inch its way back late in the set, getting within two points in the closing moments of the set, but Saint Louis held strong took a two set lead.
Set 3: Saint Louis 25 - Fordham 21
A few attacking errors by the Billikens and three kills by the Rams gave Fordham a 6-2 lead to start the set. The Rams kept that four-point advantage for most of the third set until the Billikens took the lead for the first time in the set at 14-13.
Both teams traded points, with neither pulling ahead by more than three points. A powerful outside hit from Tamia Maddox and a service ace by Ellie Rink prompted a Fordham timeout, which then boosted the Billikens to close out the set and secure a third consecutive conference victory.
