ST. LOUIS – The Billikens dropped another tough match to VCU on Saturday afternoon at Chaifetz Pavilion. Saint Louis fell to 8-7 overall and 0-4 in Atlantic 10 play.
SET 1: VCU 25, SLU 18
VCU took an early 6-2 lead before the Billikens cut it to one. The Rams responded with a 4-0 run to go up 10-5 and maintained control the rest of the way.
SET 2: SLU 25, VCU 14
After trading points early, Saint Louis went ahead 14-9 and never looked back, extending its lead to 20-12. The Billikens hit .450 as a team in the set.
SET 3: VCU 25, SLU 16
The Rams opened with a 9-4 advantage and never trailed. SLU kept the margin within reach early, but VCU pulled away late, leading 19-12 before closing out the frame.
SET 4: VCU 25, SLU 23
VCU jumped ahead 8-4 before SLU rallied to tie it at 13. The Rams built a 20-15 lead, and though the Billikens fought back to within one at 22-21, VCU held on to take the match.
