ST. LOUIS – UC Davis scored midway through the first overtime session to defeat Saint Louis 2-1 Sunday in nonconference field hockey action at the SLU FH Complex.
The Bills are now 5-5 overall. UC Davis improved to 5-6.
SLU got on the board first with a goal in the second quarter by Sierra Larson, her team-leading fifth of the season. The ball was centered to Larson by Josie Naeger. Larson bounced a shot in that snuck behind the UC Davis goalie for the game's opening score.
UC Davis got one back just before halftime, when Morgan Caldera tallied off a penalty corner to send the teams into the break with the game tied 1-1.
That remained the score through regulation, setting up a sudden victory overtime period.
UC Davis ended it 4:31 into the overtime session when Karly Redman rifled a shot into the upper portion of the cage.
The Aggies out-shot the Bills 10-5 and owned a 7-2 penalty corner advantage.
Saint Louis is back in action next Sunday when it heads to Iowa to face the Hawkeyes in a noon start.
