ST. LOUIS –
Amari McCottry led five Saint Louis double-figure scorers with a career- and game-high 23 points, and the Billikens set two Chaifetz Arena offensive records in a 109-66 victory over Lindenwood Monday night.
SLU (3-0) shot 66.7 percent (38-of-57) from the field, the best mark on its current home court. The Billikens' 66 second-half points also established a Chaifetz Arena record.
In addition, Saint Louis tallied 100 or more points in consecutive games for the first time in program history. The Bills scored 108 against Chicago State Nov. 6. Also, SLU recorded its second-highest point total at Chaifetz Arena and its highest point total vs. a Division I opponent at Chaifetz.
Led by
Ishan Sharma's 4-of-6 performance, Saint Louis connected on 11-of-21 3-point attempts for 52.4 percent. Sharma equaled his career high of 16 points.
McCottry was 10-of-13 (career high in field goals made) from the floor and narrowly missed a double-double, leading all players with nine rebounds to propel SLU to a 37-22 edge on the glass. He matched his career high with a game-high-tying four steals.
Dion Brown (6-of-7 FG) scored 17 points,
Kellen Thames (5-of-6 FG) had 12 points, and
Quentin Jones added 10 points and a game-high four assists.
The Billikens earned advantages of 54-34 in points in the paint and 53-32 in bench points.
Saint Louis, which never trailed, took command late in the first half, outscoring Lindenwood 13-5 over the last 5:37 to carry a 43-27 lead into the break.
In the second half, it didn't take long for the Billikens to put the game out of reach. They gained their first 20-point advantage, 50-29, less than two minutes into the period and led by 31 points, 64-33, at the 14:49 mark. SLU's largest cushion was 47 points, 109-62, with 1:06 remaining.
