CHICAGO — Saint Louis defeated Loyola Chicago in a five-set thriller Tuesday evening at Gentile Arena, earning the program's first win over the Ramblers since they joined the Atlantic 10 in 2022.
 
SET 1 | Loyola Chicago 25, Saint Louis 21
Both teams traded early runs before Loyola took control late in the frame, pulling ahead 22-18 and holding on for the opening-set win.
 
SET 2 | Saint Louis 25, Loyola Chicago 22
The Billikens responded quickly, jumping out to an 8-5 lead and maintaining the advantage for most of the set. After the Ramblers tied it at 20, SLU closed strong to even the match at one set apiece.
 
SET 3 | Loyola Chicago 25, Saint Louis 18
Loyola used a 7-0 run to grab a 9-5 lead in the third. The Billikens battled back to tie it at 10 before the Ramblers regained momentum and pulled away down the stretch.
 
SET 4 | Saint Louis 25, Loyola Chicago 21
The fourth set featured six ties before SLU took a 15-12 lead and never trailed again. The Billikens held steady to force a decisive fifth set.
 
SET 5 | Saint Louis 15, Loyola Chicago 11
Saint Louis controlled the tiebreaker early, never allowing Loyola to score more than one point at a time until the match was tied at 7. From there, the Billikens surged ahead and closed out the win.
 
NOTABLES
• Jetta Brenning recorded her second triple-double with 22 assists, a career-high 19 digs, and matched her career high with 12 kills. She added five block assists and two aces.
• Tamia Maddox posted a double-double with 10 kills and 19 digs.
• Lucy Rankin also tallied a double-double with 19 assists and a career-high 15 digs.
• Ellie Rink led the Billikens with 16 kills.
• Vivian Kieffer contributed three service aces.
• Justina Asamoa finished with a career-high seven total blocks and six kills.
