LOS ANGELES – Saint Louis' Trey Green scored a game-high 23 points to lead four Billikens in double figures in a 91-70 SLU victory over Loyola Marymount Tuesday at Gersten Pavilion in Los Angeles.
Saint Louis improves to 7-1 overall with the win, while LMU falls to 7-3.
It was the first nonconference road win for SLU since the 2021-22 season, when the Billikens won at Boise State in overtime. In addition, the 21-point win was the largest in a nonconference road game since a 24-point Billiken victory over SIUE in 2013-14.
Green ended up leading SLU in all three games during the California swing. He was 8-of-12 from the field and 6-of-9 from 3-point range tonight to account for his 23 points.Â
Robbie Avila scored 17 points and dished out five assists. Quentin Jones stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, a team-high seven assists, five rebounds and three steals. Dion Brown was the fourth Billikens in double figures with 12 points while also adding eight rebounds.
Kellen Thames led SLU with 11 rebounds, helping the Billikens register a 47-27 advantage on the glass. The Bills had 17 offensive rebounds, which they turned into 19 points.
SLU dished out a season-high 24 assists on 35 made baskets. SLU outscored the Lions 52-36 in the paint
The Billikens took a 16-point lead (40-24) into halftime on the strength of 52.9 percent shooting in the opening stanza. Jones had a game-high 12 points and four assists in the first half.
The Bills broke the game open with an 11-0 run, turning an 11-10 deficit into a 21-11 advantage and the Billikens never looked back. The SLU lead was double digits for all of the second half.
SLU returns to action on Sunday against Central Michigan at 2 p.m. on ESPN+. It's the start of a six-game homestand through the rest of December.
