Billikens Split Season-Opening Twinbill

MORAGA, Calif. – Saint Louis opened the 2025 baseball season on Friday by splitting a doubleheader at Saint Mary's. The Billikens topped the Gaels 9-4 in the opener, but fell 16-1 (seven innings) in the nightcap.

Game three of the four-game series is set for a 3 p.m. (CT) first pitch on Saturday.

In the opener, the Billikens used a six-run sixth inning to take control. J.T. Crabbe and Brenden Stressler both had three-run homers in the inning.

Austin Neuweg hit a two-run bomb in the seventh, and Crabbe singled in another run in the eighth to account for the scoring.

Meanwhile, Charlie Weber was effective for SLU on the mound, pitching the last four innings to pick up the save. He allowed no runs on just two hits.

In game two, Riley Iffrig drove in the game's opening run on a sacrifice fly, but that is all the offense SLU would muster as the Gaels broke the game open with a nine-run fifth inning.

Hayden Moore and Crabbe led SLU with three hits apiece on the day. Stressler, Ian Halverson and Iffrig all posted two hits for the Bills.
