THE BASICS
Saint Louis split a doubleheader with Evansville Thursday, defeating the Purple Aces 12-2 in five innings in the opener and falling 11-1 in six innings in game two.
 
GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•The Billikens took advantage of six walks in the bottom of the first inning to score eight runs. Abby Ulsas and Karsen Jany delivered a two-run double and a two-run single, respectively, Natalie Sullivan smacked an RBI single, and Ashley Marietta tallied an RBI on a bases-loaded walk.
•Marietta's two-run single in the second increased the lead to 10-0.
•Two more Saint Louis runs crossed in the third on a throwing error.
•Evansville scored its runs in the fourth.
 
GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Taylor Hochman allowed just one hit and one walk over three innings and improved to 3-0. Hochman struck out four.
•Chloe Rhine doubled, while Jane Kaniecki, Abby Mallo and Kendall Johnson collected a single apiece.
•Kate Proffitt pitched a scoreless fifth inning.
 
GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•Evansville plated five runs in the first, two in the fourth and four in the sixth.
•Scout Gallagher clubbed her first collegiate home run in the sixth.
