THE BASICS
Abby Mallo homered and
Taylor Hochman continued her stellar pitching to lift Saint Louis to a 2-1 victory over Southern Indiana Saturday in the Billikens' final game at the Bank of Hawaii Paradise Classic.

Earlier in the day, SLU fell 6-4 to Santa Clara.

GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•The Billikens tallied all their runs in the top of the third inning.
Jane Kaniecki's RBI single started the scoring, Mallo swatted a two-run double, and
Anna Christ made it 4-0 with an RBI single.
•Santa Clara plated two runs in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•
Isabel Royle went the distance in the circle. Royle allowed only three earned runs and six hits, struck out five and did not walk a batter.
•
Allie Marietta had a single.

GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•Southern Indiana took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning.
•Saint Louis pulled even in the fourth when Mallo blasted her second home run of the season.
•In the fifth, the Billikens registered what proved to be the winning run without the benefit of a hit.
Kendall Johnson drew a leadoff walk, and with two outs, moved to second on a wild pitch. Pinch runner
Addie Duttlinger advanced to third and scored on two more wild pitches.

GAME 2 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Hochman improved to 2-0. She yielded six hits – just two over the final four innings – struck out five and did not walk a batter. The run she allowed was her first in three appearances (16 innings).
•
Abby Ulsas had a single.

•Following a week off, SLU travels to Evansville, Ind., for the Aces Tournament 2 Feb. 21-23. The Billikens will face Western Michigan, Ohio State, UT Martin and host team Evansville.
