CHICAGO – The Billikens fell 63-62 in a heartbreaker to Loyola Chicago to end the regular season.
The Billikens got out to a 17-7 lead with 3:30 to play in the first quarter, then Loyola Chicago went on a 7-0 run to put the score at 17-14 to end the first quarter.
Saint Louis outscored Loyola Chicago 20-7 in the second quarter to lead 37-21 at halftime.
The Ramblers came out firing in the third quarter and outscored SLU 20-6 to cut the lead to 43-41.
The fourth was back and forth the whole way with 11 lead changes. SLU trailed with just over a minute to play but a big bucket from
Shun'teria Anumele put the Billikens up 62-61. Loyola hit a final shot to seal the game.
Tierra Simon led the Billikens with another double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds she also tied her career-high with four assists. She reached the 500 point mark in her NCAA career.
Peyton Kennedy and
Shun'teria Anumele both added 13 points of their own.
Brooklyn Gray rounded out the Billikens in double figures with 10 points.
Saint Louis is back in action for the first round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament in Henrico, Va., on Wednesday, March 5. Opponent and time will be determined shortly.
