Henrico, Va. — Kennedy Calhoun scored 20 points to lead Saint Louis past St. Bonaventure, 60-50, in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
The Billikens held the Bonnies scoreless for more than four and a half minutes to start the game and led 17-12 at the end of the first quarter.
SLU forced 14 turnovers in the first half, scoring 12 points off them, and went into the break with a 38-27 lead.
The Bonnies outscored Saint Louis 14-11 in the third quarter to trim the lead to 49-41.
Saint Louis held St. Bonaventure to fewer than 10 points in the fourth quarter to secure the win and advance to the second round.
Calhoun surpassed 1,000 career points in the game and also reached 100 steals for the season.
Peyton Kennedy scored 13 points, moving into fifth place on the Saint Louis all-time scoring list, while Shun'teria Anumele added 10 points.
Saint Louis will face UMass in the second round on Thursday, March 6, at 4 p.m. Central.
