DAYTON, OHIO – The Billikens defeated the Flyers 8-4 on Friday afternoon in game one of a three game series.
Dayton got ahead early with homeruns in the first and second innings to lead 4-0.
Saint Louis then scored eight unanswered with runs in five of the last six innings.
Riley Iffrig drove in
Hayden Moore in the fourth to put SLU on the board.
In the fifth,
Patrick Mendiola hit a two RBI double, and
Ethan Sitzman drove another run in the sixth to tie the game at 4-4.
Ian Halverson hit a two RBI double in the eighth to take the lead 6-4. Iffrig drove in the final two runs with a homerun in the ninth.
Charlie Weber earned the win with 3.1 innings of work, allowing just one hit, no walks, and three strikeouts.
The Billikens are back in action tomorrow with an updated schedule. Due to weather in the Dayton area, the teams will play a doubleheader Saturday starting at 10 a.m. Central.
