THE BASICS
Six different players had at least one RBI to support the pitching of Isabel Royle as Saint Louis defeated Fordham 10-2 in six innings Friday night in the opener of a three-game Atlantic 10 Conference series.

Abby Mallo and Allie Marietta led SLU's 13-hit attack with three hits and two RBIs apiece. Royle, who escaped three bases-loaded jams with only one run allowed, recorded her fourth victory of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
•Saint Louis took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Chloe Rhine walked with one out and was erased on Scout Gallagher's fielder's choice. After Kendall Johnson kept the inning alive with a single, she and Gallagher advanced on a passed ball and scored on Marietta's single.
•The Billikens made it 3-0 in the third. Natalie Sullivan executed a bunt single and scored on Mallo's double.
•SLU erupted for four runs in the fourth for a 7-0 lead. Singles by Johnson and Marietta were followed by Karsen Jany's RBI single. After Abby Ulsas' fielder's choice put runners on first and third, Marietta scored on a throwing error by the Fordham catcher as Ulsas stole second. Sullivan and Mallo plated a run apiece with a double and single, respectively.
•The Bills answered Fordham's first run in the fifth with one of their own in the bottom half. Rhine walked, moved to third on two passed balls and scored on a throwing error.
•Fordham tallied a run in the sixth to make it an 8-2 game.
•Mallo started the game-winning rally with a two-out single and scored on Jane Kaniecki's double. Kaniecki scooted to third when the relay throw got away and, after Rhine walked, scored on Gallagher's infield single.
