ST. LOUIS – The Billikens defeated St. Bonaventure 7-3 on Saturday to win the series.
Saint Louis and the Bonnies split Friday's doubleheader to the series came down to the Saturday's game.
SLU got the scoring started with a two RBI single by
Brenden Stressler to lead 2-0.
The Billikens extended their lead with four runs in the fifth. The fifth inning saw all nine batters come to the plate for SLU. Riley Iffing singled in a run then
Max McGwire walked to score a second.
Ethan Sitzman hit a two RBI single to push the SLU lead to 6-0.
The Bonnies got on the board in the sixth to put the game at 6-1. Saint Louis answered immediately in the sixth to go ahead 7-1.
St. Bonaventure was able to plate one run in both the eighth and ninth innings to bring the final score to 7-3.
The Billikens finished with 13 hits, Stressler went 2-5 on the day with three RBIs. Sitzman also went 2-5 with two RBIs.
Hayden Moore and Iffrig each went 2-4.
Christrian Pownall earned the win with 4.0 innings of work giving up 3 hits with no runs allowed.
Saint Louis returns to action on Tuesday to host Western Illinois. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. Central.
