Henrico, Va. - The Saint Louis University women's basketball team secured a 67-57 victory over UMass in the second round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament. The Billikens weathered a late push from the Minutewomen and held on for the win behind a standout performance from
Brooklyn Gray.
Saint Louis jumped out to a 5-0 lead, but the game was tied at 12 with 3:30 remaining in the first half. UMass then went on an 11-0 run before Peyton Kennedy scored four unanswered points to close the quarter, leaving the Billikens trailing 19-16.
SLU came out strong in the second quarter, tying the game at 22. The Billikens held the Minutewomen to just six points in the period, taking a 31-25 lead at halftime.
Saint Louis outscored UMass 18-7 in the third quarter to extend its lead to 49-32 heading into the final 10 minutes.
UMass made a push with a 10-0 run to cut the deficit to 60-50, but Saint Louis kept the Minutewomen at bay and went on to win 67-57.
Brooklyn Gray scored a career-high 30 points, the most by a Billiken this season.
Peyton Kennedy added 13 points, surpassing 1,500 career points.
Tierra Simon grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Billikens will face George Mason in the quarterfinals, with tip-off set for 4 p.m. Central Time on Peacock.
