DAVIDSON, N.C. – Saint Louis University defeated Davidson 6-5 in 11 innings Saturday behind a career performance from Charlie Weber on the mound.
The Billikens opened the scoring in the first inning when Brenden Stressler drove in two runs with a single.
Davidson responded with runs in the first and second to tie the game at 2-2, then took a 3-2 lead in the fourth.
Saint Louis answered with three runs in the fifth to regain the lead at 5-3. Ian Blazier hit an RBI single, followed by a two-run homer from Riley Iffrig.
The Wildcats plated a run in the bottom of the fifth to trim the deficit to 5-4.
Davidson hit back-to-back doubles in the ninth to tie the game and force extra innings.
In the 11th, Hayden Moore walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch before Hank Gomric drove in the go-ahead run with an RBI single.
C. Weber earned the win, throwing a career-high 101 pitches over 7.0 innings and striking out a personal-best 10 batters.
Game 3 of the series is scheduled for Sunday at noon CT.
